31 Day Blog Challenge- Day 7- Your Pet hates

Isn’t the English language great? Unless you are actually from England, I can imagine you are wondering what a Pet Hate is?!

What on earth is a pet hate?!

Taking it literally, you would think it was a pet that you hate. But why would you hate your pet?!

According to the Collins Dictionary a ‘Pet Hate’ means ‘a minor annoyance that a person identifies as particularly annoying to them, to a greater degree than it may be to others’

A pet hate is also known as a bane, bugbear, dislike.

Now, you know what the definition of a pet hate is, i’ll tell you what my pet hate is.

We all have things that annoy us but one thing I can’t stand is negativity towards other people.

I’m generally a positive person as I have experiences a lot of negativity in my life. After having low self esteem and depression in  the past, I now like to see the positive side in every situation.

Have you ever noticed how bad news or rumours travel faster than good or positive news? You hear something bad about someone you ring your friend about it. Someone does well at something others make negative comments. There never seems to be positive media coverage in the News. It all seem to be all doom and gloom.

I honestly don’t understand the need for negative attitudes towards others. I’ll be the first to hold my hands up and admit i’ve had negative things to say about others. And visa versa. Anyone who says they have never bad mouthed is telling a porky.

Negativity

In my eyes, everyone is an equal. Each and every person has their own unique qualities. Some people are better at one thing than another person. Some people find success easily, some have to work that little bit harder. Either way, its success and there is no need for negativity.

One persons success might not be good enough for another person. Or it might be too much for someone else.

Achieve Your Goals And Dreams

I am a great believer that if you want something enough, you will work hard for it. Don’t be negative towards others successes. Celebrate with them. Don’t be jealous, if you want something. Go out there and find a way that works for you and achieve your goals.

My 14 year old son, Cameron, has just recently got a GCSE in ADT 2 years early. On the morning of collecting his results he turned to me and said ‘Mum i’m scared that I didn’t pass.’ My reply was simply ‘You’ve done what you can do now. You have done a GCSE 2 years early, thats an achievement in itself. If you’ve passed then thats great, you celebrate. If not, you simply learn from your mistakes and make a plan so you do succeed and achieve what you want to achieve.’

Cameron, ended up getting a B. He was over the moon and so was I. But there were other pupils that achieved A’s. Not once did Cameron bad mouth them. I’ve brought him up that there will be others that do better than him, as long as he does his best. As his Mum, thats all I ask of him.

I believe there is a way around everything. You just need to have the determination and self belief to allow you to achieve your goals. It might take that little longer or you might have to work a little harder but you can and will get there.

Believe In Yourself.

Basically, the message i’m trying to get across is, everyone is unique, everyone achieves at different levels, everyones goals and dreams are different. That needs to respected. Celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small. There will be a lot less negativity.
