On the second day of parenting – Family Christmas Gift Ideas

Ok, so when I was given the prompt of ‘On the second day of parenting – Family Christmas Gift Ideas’, I automatically thought of the controversial gift ideas. What to buy Mum, Dad, Brother, Sister, Gran, Grandad, Aunty, Uncle, The next door neighbours dog…you know how it goes.

I didn’t want to give you a gift ideas on items you could buy, the latest gadgets etc. I wanted to give you something with meaning. Something your family members will appreciate and remember. Something that will make a family members life that little bit easier.

The best Family Christmas Gift Ideas I have thought of are ‘Random Acts of Kindness’,

Not only are they free or inexpensive, they will mean the world to your loved  ones. These Random Acts of Kindness can be anything that you know will make your families day. It doesn’t have to focused on individual people either. Could be a couple, whole family, the children in the family etc.

Make up a booklet of vouchers, with the Act Of Kindness on it signed by yourself, so the family member can ‘Redeem it’ at a later date.

Here are some examples

  • Offering to do housework for a week
  • Walk the dog
  • Helping with the shopping
  • Take them out to lunch
  • Prepare them a meal
  • Offering to babysit for a couple so they can have a date night
  • Do something of a child’s choice every fortnight
  • Offer to help with the garden
  • Offer to wash the car

Do you get the idea?

Christmas doesn’t have to be about money, getting the best or most expensive. It’s about the gift of giving, being with your loved ones and making memories.

This type of Family Christmas Gift Ideas will be more thoughtful than the same old socks Dad gets each year, or the same old toffees for Gran. It’s a little different and guaranteed to be appreciated and make them smile.

Let me know if you give this a go. I’d love to hear your stories.
